Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
11 (NIV) Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
11 (KJV) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
God’s armour, not our armour – He has given us the armour!
“Put on” – is a command not a suggestion
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
– Not against human but against spiritual forces – prayer against these things
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
– Stand! Stand! Is repeated stand your ground do not retreat.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,
JESUS IS TRUTH
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. -John 14:6
with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
JESUS IS RIGHTEOUS
It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. – 1 Corinthians 1:30
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
JESUS IS THE PRINCE OF PEACE
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
OUR FAITH IS IN JESUS
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. – Romans 10:17
17 Take the helmet of salvation and
JESUS IS OUR SALVATION
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. – John 1:1
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
WE PRAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS
Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. -John 14:13-14
We must go to Calvary for each piece of this armor. When we put it on, we can see that our whole body is covered. But you notice there is no armor for the back.
Why do you think this is?
The Christian is never supposed to run from the enemy but fight the good fight of faith, praying always! We are to “take our stand agaisnt” the enemy
But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard. – Isaiah 52:12
God is your Rear guard!!! It is the soldiers at the rear of a body of troops, especially those protecting a retreating army.
Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. – 2 Timothy 2:3
Stand!! In the victory Christ wrought on Calvary!
