What Gifts are you Hiding?

Did you ever receive a gift from someone that you didn’t quite know what to do with? You put it away in your closet thinking you would probably never use it. Maybe you thought one day you will re-gift it or perhaps you totally just forgot about it.

Until one day you are doing a spring clean and you find that gift! And it is actually exactly what you need at that time, or it brings back a joyful memory, or perhaps you remember the person who gave it to you and you send them a “just checking in” message which was exactly what they needed!

Well God has given you many gifts, many skills. You may not always recognize how valuable they are at the time. You may even think the experiences you have been through were for no reason, the skills you have learned are of no value and the talents that you have, have no real purpose in your life. So you hide them away and you don’t talk about them. You have just shelved them.

God has blessed you, and gifted you in so many ways. You are valuable! Think back about how and when He has used you for an act of kindest, an expression of love, a hug, helping the poor, showing mercy, given advice from an experience you have been through or simply just been a great listener. Recognise how important these gifts are and you can realise how much more God wants to use you with the gifts He has given you!

Lord, Thank you for who you have made me to be. I don’t always think of the things I do as being particularly special or worthy of being called a gift or talent, but please help me to recognise and appreciate the ways You are using me and want to use me exactly AS I AM! – AMEN
