“Friendship is like a bank account. You can’t continue to draw on it without making deposits.” – Anonymous
Friendship usually develops because of a common interest or goal. The term “friend” is somewhat intimate and conveys a sense of closeness, trust, and sharing.
You invest time with together, you celebrate each others joys, lift the other up when things are tough, stand up for each other , listen to your friends dreams and pray for one another for things bigger than we would pray for ourselves. You find ways to laugh together and forgiving should be easy when faults and mistakes occur – True friendship.
How is your relationship with your closest friends?
Now imagine being a friend of God.
What is remarkable is that Abraham was termed the friend of God. The Great, Almighty All-Powerful, Creator of Heaven and Earth – God was the one who made this statement. This was not Abraham’s own title of his relationship with God, nor how he thought about God. It was a statement that God himself made about Abraham. WOW!
Isaiah 41:8- “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend
James 2:23- And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
Your friendship with God Almighty requires a similar yet more intimate approach and investment than with your closest friend. You choose to spend time developing your friendship and relationship with Him as you spend time in His presence, as you prayer, as you read His Word. This creates opportunity for Him to share His perfect Will and love in your life. He wants to hear your heart when times are tough. He wants to rejoice with you in your joys. He wants to lead and guide you in your desires and dreams. He wants to have a relationship and friendship with you. Make the decision to give Him your time.
Lord, thank you for always being right there waiting for me to reach out to You. Thank you for Your unconditional love. Forgive me when I am distracted and do not give You my best time.
Thank you for all the true friends that I have in my life and being an example to me as to how I should to be a true friend to others. Teach me, Lord to walk with You every day.
Thank you Lord. – AMEN!
