“So do not fear , for I am with you”
The verse before this says “I have chosen you and have not rejected you”
To not fear is a command to us from the Lord.. (also it is repeated many times throughout the Bible)
Also, the promise in this verse “God is with you” its like the Lord made this verse very personal He speaks directly to you and me. “For I am with YOU” everyday, all the time! No matter what you’re going through. That’s a promise!
“Be not dismayed, for I am your God”
Dismay is another word for distress or concern usually instigated by something unexpected.
In this verse we are told NOT to be dismayed.
WHY?
• Because of who God is.. “I am”
Jesus said in the new testament:
• I am the Bread of Life (John 6:35)
• I am the Light of the World (John 8:12)
• I am the Door (John 10:9)
• I am the Good Shepherd (John 10:11,14)
• I am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)
• I am the Way and the Truth and the Life (John 14:6)
• I am the Vine (John 15:1,5)
We serve the Living Christ, Who conquered death for us, so there is no reason to be distressed/concern/dismayed.
“I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you”:
In this verse, the Lord doesnt say I will take you out of your struggle or I will make it go away. No, instead God promises to provide us with strength, and with help.
Do we sometimes forget to ask the Lord for strength and help in our situation?
Instead we try pray the situation away?
“I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”:
I love how the Lord is very explicit in this verse, not just any hand will uphold you, but His “Righteous Right Hand” I was reminded of this verse:
Luke 22:69

“But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God”
Jesus is the Righteous Right Hand!! Wow! I found that to be quite amazing.
I did a bit more research and often God’s right hand also symbolizes His power and His greatness.
Exodus 15:6
Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.
This is the hand that will uphold each one of us♡
